About SignEmber
Independent project · Privacy-first · Online since 2026
SignEmber is built and maintained by Cédric M., a web developer based in France. It has been online since 2026, and you can reach a real person directly at hello@signember.com.
SignEmber is a small, independent project that builds two free tools: a signature maker for handwritten-style signatures, and an email signature generator for clean, professional HTML signatures. We started it because the existing options were either locked behind sign-ups and paywalls, added watermarks, or quietly injected tracking pixels into the signatures they produced. We wanted the opposite: a tool that does one job well and respects the people using it.
How the tools actually work
Everything runs entirely in your browser. When you draw or type a signature, the image is rendered on your own device; when you fill in the email signature form, the HTML is built locally and copied to your clipboard. Your signature, your photo, your logo and your contact details are never uploaded to or stored on our servers — there is no account and nothing to log in to. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab, and you will see no request carrying your data. This is also why the tools keep working even on a flaky connection once the page has loaded.
Why it is free
The tools are genuinely free, with no watermark and no upsell to remove one. Because everything is computed in your browser, running SignEmber costs us almost nothing in server resources, so we can keep the core tools free indefinitely. For analytics we use privacy-friendly, cookieless, self-hosted Umami — it counts visits and anonymous tool usage but never your signature or form data — see our Privacy Policy for the details.
Built for four languages
SignEmber is available in English, German, French and Spanish (EN · DE · FR · ES). The interface and the guidance are written natively for each language rather than machine-translated, because a signature is a small but personal thing and the wording around it should read naturally.
An honest note on legal validity
A signature image created here is great for letters, PDFs, Word documents and email sign-offs, but it is not a qualified electronic signature under the EU eIDAS Regulation or the US ESIGN Act. For legally binding e-signatures on contracts, use a dedicated e-signature provider. We would rather tell you this up front than let a nice-looking image create a false sense of security.
